We hope everyone had a Happy Holiday! Also, we wanted to let you know what we have been up to in the Media Lab here at B-W. The kinders have been practicing their typing skills, constructing words using certain endings (ed, an, et, etc.), online movie making, and having fun taking pictures using Photo Booth. First graders are beginning their digital story writing lessons and are also practicing their typing skills. Some second grade classes had fun designing their own “desktops”. Others have been busy working on their “FavoriteThings” PowerPoint project. Third graders just finished their “Moon” project in Microsoft Word learning how to change fonts, colors, centering, and to italicize words. For the next two weeks, third graders will do a research project on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Fourth graders have been very busy making and editing their “practice” films to get ready for the iVIE Film Festival. B-W’s 5th graders have been very busy in the lab working on progressive storytelling, M & M Excel project, making cover sheets for their end of year portfolio, PowerPoint Presentations, Garage Band, and practicing those typing skills.
These are just some of the lessons we work on in the lab. Please come by any time to see us in action. Here are some photos for you to enjoy!
Happy New Year,
We are having a fun start to our new school year! This year brings new adventures to our students in the Media Lab. We have an additional 4 new MacBook Pros thanks to our amazing B-W Foundation. Thank you to all the parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and family friends who support B-W through our fundraising.
Our fourth graders are beginning their film making process in order to get ready for the iVIE film festival which will be held in the spring. Our fifth graders are working on a progressive Halloween story (practicing those typing skills at the same time). More news soon about what our Kinder – 3rd graders are learning.
Happy fall to all,
Ms. Kathy and the amazing students in room 6

We have continued to learn a lot while having fun in the lab! We are so grateful for our wonderful parents here at B-W, our new laptops are awesome! Thank you, B-W Foundation, for supporting our Media Lab.
Kindergarten students practiced their “home row” and learned how to use the shift key for capital letters. They were excited to print out their work. Some first grade classrooms are continuing to work on their “e-book” which we hope to have uploaded soon for you to enjoy. First graders have also been practicing their math skills. Some second grade classes had fun creating a new design for our laptop desktops (wallpaper). Third graders are busy working on their “Famous Artists” projects. Our fourth graders are done making their iVIE films, maybe B-W will take home an iVIE, but no matter what happens, we are proud of their work. More info about our films will be posted soon. Our fifth graders continue to work on their “e-books” and short films for their Panda Pals/Little Buddies. We can’t wait to share it with them!
Until next time,
Ms. Kathy and her wonderful students!
During the month of February, primary grades did special Valentine’s Day projects such as crossword puzzles and word searches. Some first grade classes have been busy working on their “eBook” project, writing sentences, drawing pictures and taking photographs. First and second graders have also been using sites online to practice their math skills. Third graders followed suit with the Daytona 500 and “raced” around the track practicing their multiplication skills. Thanks for checking in and remember to stop by and say hi anytime!
